VALLEJO, CA (October 5, 2011) – On September 29, 2011 Harbor Park Apartment Homes, a Klein Ventures Property professionally managed by Phoenix-based Alliance Residential Company, hosted a community event where they introduced the Klein Financial Corporation (KFC) Cares Program designed to build and improve the community through a variety of unique services and education-promoting efforts, and brought their community residents and the greater neighborhood together with food, games and music.

Over 250 residents, and neighbors of all ages celebrated from the afternoon into the early evening enjoying games and dancing to music from the local radio DJ , DJ Rell at 89.5FM. Radio talk show personality, Erica Blue, served as a co-host announcer for the festivities. A Community Mural, “We Are Community” was hand-painted by residents of all ages from Harbor Park, capturing this spirit of coming together and creating a colorful and enduring mark of community spirit. The University of California, Lawrence Hall of Science Innovators Laboratory program was presented by their staff to the family and children of the community; many of the children currently participate in this robotics and science education program that is hosted across the street from Harbor Park in the South Vallejo Community Center.

In addition to the fun, Harbor Park introduced the KFC Cares Program comprised of initiatives designed to improve the lives of individuals within the greater community. Bob Klein, President of Klein Financial, stated: “We have created the KFC Cares Program for all of our properties because we have demonstrated that commitments to special programs for our residents and their families can dramatically improve their lives and the sense of community for the apartment community. When the residents and their children are fully engaged with these programs, their successes are accelerated and amplified; we know that together we can make a difference.” Such progressive programs include the unique One Touch Savings and Service program, the University of California, Lawrence Hall of Science Innovators Laboratory scholarship program, and the Vallejo Neighborhood Watch Program.

The unique Harbor Park One Touch Savings & Service program, exclusive to Klein Financial Communities, offers residents savings through exclusive discounts to a wide array of businesses, and a concierge service designed to make life easier, including, for example, preferred access to concert tickets, cab reservations and daily wake-up calls. “The coupon discounts could save a resident family up to $250 a month or more; our Property Manager uses the discount program and she has realized even larger savings,” acconding to Mr. Klein.

Harbor Park is also deeply committed to education. Harbor Park has partnered with the University of California, Lawrence Hall of Science Innovators Laboratory to offer program scholarships to the property’s high school students. The programs are free to all Harbor Park students, and the high school students receive a $500 annual stipend when they participate in the most advanced program. In addition, at the beginning of the school year, Harbor Park hosted a successful “Gear Up for Success” event for the community where over 100 Harbor Park school children were provided basic tools for success, each receiving his or her own backpack filled with fun and necessary school supplies.

In a wider community focus, Harbor Park has created a South Vallejo Neighborhood Watch program, steered by the Harbor Park Community Officer, Denard Fobbs, in collaboration with Mr. Washington Davis, a retired Oakland Police Officer who lives at Harbor Park. This Neighborhood Watch is supported by the local nonprofit group, Fighting Back Partnership, that has involved 3,500 neighborhood residents in 10 Watch areas. The program is nationally recognized by the Coalition of Anti-Drug Communities of America. Denard Fobbs recently joined the staff of Klein Financial Corporation as the Community Outreach Officer. Mr. Fobbs continues to serve as a Captain in the US Marines Active Reserve; he recently returned from two tours in Iraq.

Harbor Park Apartment Homes is leading the market in programs designed to enhance and improve the lifestyle of its residents and the greater Vallejo community. Mr. Klein closed his remarks by stating, “I want to thank all of our resident families, the University of California Berkley Lawrence Hall of Science, Fighting Back, FM Station 89.5, and the Alliance Residential property management staff for their work with Klein Financial in making Harbor Park an unmatched, in fact extraordinary, North Bay apartment community.”
